Abseiling for Charity

Abseiling for charityIn clinic, we love to hear about the adventures and achievements that so many of our patients enjoy and experience.

“It was an amazing experience!” was the quote of the day!

On Saturday 9 April, one of our patients and her daughter abseiled 300 ft down the Spinnaker Tower. Her sister has Parkinson’s and she was very keen to support the research and Parkinson’s nurses.

“The great day dawned we watched others coming down the Tower. What on earth had we let ourselves in for?

The staff were just superb, explaining everything and getting us out onto the ropes before we even had time to get worried. They even arranged that my daughter and I would be able to make the descent together. The views from the top were superb but I have to admit that I didn’t look down!  It took us nearly 10 minutes to get down, as we wanted to enjoy ourselves – and I had waited for a few minutes at the top while my daughter got onto her rope.  I think it was worst for our family and friends waiting on the ground and watching our descent.

Our friends and family either thought we were very brave or quite mad but were really generous in their sponsorship. Between us we have raised nearly £1200, not including Gift Aid.”

We would really like to share some more stories about our incredible patients and their adventures! If you have recently been proud of an achievement then do let us know.
